About this series:
I'm sharing some of my intuitive art journal spreads in this series. All videos will NOT be part of any Design Team work. I pick the supplies that I wanna use right in this moment.
Art Journaling is a very big part of my creative life. It means, I find time to get some mental relief, I write down the thoughts or quotes that are imortant for me.
Creating in my journal is also some kind of art practicing. I learn a lot about the different mediums, I am using, and I develope new ideas to use in prospective work.

Of course I will always give you a list of supplies. I know how frustrating it is, if you see a tool in a video and can't find out what it is. You will find the supplies in the video description.

I hope I can give you some inspiration. Art journaling doesn't have to be perfect!!! The result must have a meaning to YOU.
Your body needs movement your soul needs colours, patterns and words - no perfection!

Make Watercolour Illustrations with your Stamps

Hi there!

Rubber Dance had a gorgeous new release a few days ago and one of the stamp sets are designed by me.... hurray!
I am a BIG penguin fan and so happy, that Bibi made them into stamps:

http://www.rubberdance.com/shop?shop_section=163311

They are on sale until tomorrow!
That means they are 20% off.
You can save the shipping costs, too, if you use this code:
SRFreeShip
(on orders over 15€)

Today I'd like to share something else you can do with your stamps, than just stamping and colouring. Turn them into watercolour illustrations:

Here is what I did:
I stamped the penguins with a light watersoluble ink (Distress Ink works great). After that I coloured the penguins with watercolours. I used a wet in wet technique to create some texture with different colours. I also sprinkled some colour on top of the images after they were dried.
Finally I used a black fineliner to bring back some of the outlines and details. It's always good to stamp a reference of your image onto a piece of scrap paper, so you can see where to put the eye or other details.

I used a gelli printed background for these cards and added some additional stamping to create a little more texture.

Thanks for stopping by today!
xx Susanne.

Mixed Media Thoughts #7 - Intuitive Art Journal Play

Hi there!

It's time for a new video in my series "Mixed Media Thoughts". This time I used an old photo of my beloved grandmother with her grandfather. When I was a child she always told me how happy she was when she could visit her grandparents. I felt like the same. The happiest place in the world was to at my grandparents home.
Unfortunately I lost her this year at the age of 90. Now I try to bring her back into my life by using some memories I found on the attic. I miss her so much.

I am sharing a mixed media tag on the Rubber Dance blog today as a reminder for our running colour challenge. You can join it until Tuesday 14th.

I cut a tag from a Brusho background out of my stash. I painted some areas with gesso and acrylic paint and added some stamping.
The flowers are from the brand new Crazy Flowers #1 stamp set. I stamped them onto a piece of Brusho coloured paper and cut them out. I glued them onto the tag and drew the stems with a watercolour pencil.
The title is cut with a Sizzix Word Block die from Tim Holtz. Finally I adhered the tag to a black base, which is slightly bigger.
